Ocean Mims ‘Untitled’

Mass-produced objects are broken down into units, to create an illusion of control and individual freedom for the consumer. These products are built for very specific functions and cannot be used outside these set boundaries.

On the one hand, there is the idea that the design of something, in this mass-made context, reaches a point where it becomes more important than the function. Another side of this process is that these objects / items are not made to be durable beyond a certain point, as though their deteriation is integrated in their design.
